jennifer vagios: singer, musician, orchestrator.
Jen artfully leads Kirtan, Sound Baths and Special live music events.
A New York native, Jennifer’s vocal range is matched only by the variety of instruments she has mastered since childhood. Jen grew up in a household filled with music - her father’s band rehearsed in the family basement, and Jen tagged along (whenever permitted) to all of her dad's local gigs. A diversity of music- everything from U2, The Eagles to Allison Kraus were always part of the soundtrack of her life growing up.
Jen began to play the piano by ear, and eventually trained to read music for piano, voice, oboe and flute. This led to playing guitar, and naturally, the harmonium, tibetan bowls, crystal bowls, African drums...and the list continues! Jen’s path in music has always been organic. In an effort to express herself as an artist, Jen sang in collegiate A Capella at the University of Maryland, and even worked as a wedding singer (yep, just like the movie!).
Fully realizing her desire to perform and share her gifts, Jen now collaborates with select yoga teachers incorporating sound and music for workshops, yoga classes and special events. Jennifer’s Sound Baths sell out regularly, and she leads Kirtan in her yoga classes. You can learn more about yoga with Jen here.
Jen says “I’ve never felt more alive, lit up and truly joyful than when I’m singing kirtan and sharing it with others. The meaning of the mantras and the way they affect your mind, body and soul is so outrageously powerful, that it's a blessing to share”.
Her most recent event, opening for Sarah & Alan Finger’s Winter Solstice Sankalpa with Deepak Chopra at ABC Carpet & Home, was a truly a treat. If you missed it, you can watch here. Jen also finished up 2017 collaborating with Melissa Jhunja of YogaWorks and Rebecca Soule at ISHTA Yoga . Her sound baths at Hastings Yoga , Breathe Salt Rooms to kick off 2018 are currently sold out.
